Are You Moving To A New Neighborhood?

You might be very excited about moving into your new house. However, if you are like many other people, the packing and moving process might not be your favorite thing to do.

First, contact a moving company that specializes in residential moving. That will mean that the packers will have plenty of experience and training in caring for every single one of your household belongings in a very careful manner.

Tell The Movers About Particular Concerns You Might Have - Good communication between you and the moving agent is the key to a smooth move.

  • For example, if you have an antique grandfather's clock, the packers can make a note of that. The weights inside the clock will be removed and wrapped individually, the inside of the clock will be protected so that the glass won't break and, finally, the outside will be wrapped so that the wood won't be scratched or damaged in the move.
  • Maybe you have a grand piano or a baby grand. The movers will more than likely disassemble the piano. They will wrap each section of the piano before it is placed in the moving van.
  • Do you own valuable paintings that are in expensive frames? Maybe you also have large framed mirrors. Those oversized items will probably be placed in special crates after they are surrounded with packing materials.
  • Even miniature items will receive special care. For instance, if you have things like china teacups and other fine figurines, they will be packed individually and placed in a special container.
  • If you have a collection of wines and other expensive bottled beverages, those items will be placed in special containers that are created especially for bottled goods. The container will more than likely say words like This Side Up.

All of these items and others that require special attention will more than likely be marked with the word, Fragile. That will remind the workers who do the unpacking to treat those items in an extra careful way. And, if you decide that you want to do the unpacking yourself, the warning will also be a reminder to you that you'll be unwrapping precious cargo.

As you get ready for the residential move, put aside things that you don't want to go in the moving van. Consider giving each of your family members a container for the things they want to keep with them. That might be one of the smartest things you will do during your preparations to move to your new house.
